HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

Policy statement of Essential Connection London Limited, trading as The Essential Connection. Issued October 2026. Next review: October 2027.

Our commitment

We are committed to protecting the health, safety and welfare of our employees, subcontractors, customers, members of the public and anyone else affected by our work. We will meet our duties under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and all other relevant legislation, and we aim to go beyond the minimum legal requirements where we reasonably can.

Responsibilities

The director has overall responsibility for health and safety and for making sure this policy is put into practice and reviewed at least once a year, or sooner if our work or the law changes. Every employee and subcontractor is responsible for taking reasonable care of their own safety and the safety of others, following safe working procedures and reporting hazards, accidents and near misses.

How we manage health and safety

Risk assessments and method statements: we assess the risks of our activities and of each job where needed, and put suitable control measures in place before work starts.

Gas safety: all gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers in line with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, manufacturers’ instructions and industry standards, including the Gas Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure.

Electrical safety: electrical work is carried out by competent, qualified electricians in line with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and BS 7671, with safe isolation procedures used at all times.

Hazardous substances: we assess and control chemicals and other hazardous substances under the COSHH Regulations 2002, including system cleaning chemicals, solvents and solder flux.

Asbestos: our operatives receive asbestos awareness training. If materials that may contain asbestos are found, work stops in that area until they have been tested and, if necessary, dealt with by a licensed contractor.

Work at height: we plan work at height under the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and use suitable access equipment.

Manual handling, tools and equipment: we plan lifting to reduce risk, and we keep tools, test instruments and equipment in safe working order, with calibration where required.

Personal protective equipment: we provide suitable PPE free of charge and make sure it is used and maintained.

Training and competence: we make sure everyone working for us holds the qualifications, registrations and training needed for their work, and we keep records of competence.

Subcontractors: we only use competent subcontractors, check their qualifications and insurance, and make sure they work to our safety standards.

Accidents and first aid: we provide first aid provision, record all accidents and near misses, investigate them, and report incidents under RIDDOR 2013 where required.

Vehicles, lone working and welfare: we maintain our vehicles, have procedures for lone working, and make sure suitable welfare facilities are available.

Customers’ homes and premises: we protect customers and the public from our work by keeping work areas safe and tidy, isolating services safely and leaving installations safe on completion.

Consultation and review

We consult our employees and subcontractors on health and safety matters, monitor how well this policy is working and review it at least once a year.

Signed: Szymon Wieliński, Director, Essential Connection London Limited. October 2026.
