FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How often should my boiler be serviced?

Once every 12 months. Most boiler manufacturers require an annual service by a Gas Safe registered engineer to keep the warranty valid, and a yearly check keeps the boiler safe and efficient.

How much does a boiler service cost?

Our boiler service starts from £140. The engineer checks the gas pressure, combustion, flue, safety devices and system pressure, and gives you a service record for your warranty.

Are your engineers Gas Safe registered?

Yes. All gas work, including boiler installations, servicing and landlord gas safety checks, is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers.

How much is a landlord gas safety certificate?

Our landlord gas safety check (CP12) costs £120 for up to two gas appliances. The check must be renewed every 12 months, and you can book up to two months early without losing your renewal date.

How long does a new boiler installation take?

A like-for-like combi boiler swap usually takes about a day. Converting a system or conventional boiler to a combi, or moving the boiler, normally takes one to two days. Our new boiler installations start from £3,200, with a written quote after a survey.

Should I choose a combi, system or regular boiler?

Combis suit flats and smaller homes with one bathroom. System boilers with an unvented cylinder suit larger homes with several bathrooms. Regular boilers suit some older houses and lower mains pressure. We recommend the right type after a survey.

My boiler keeps losing pressure. What should I do?

Top it up to the pressure in your manual, usually 1 to 1.5 bar when cold. If it keeps dropping, there may be a leak, a faulty pressure relief valve or a failed expansion vessel, and an engineer should check it.

Do I need a power flush?

You may if radiators are cold at the bottom, the boiler is noisy, or water from a bleed valve is dark. Power flushing from £1,200 is often recommended when fitting a new boiler to an older system; newer systems may only need a chemical clean and a magnetic filter.

Do you install and service heat pumps?

Yes. We carry out heat loss surveys and air source heat pump installation and servicing. A room-by-room heat loss survey shows whether your radiators are suitable before you commit.

Is there a grant for heat pumps?

The government Boiler Upgrade Scheme currently offers £7,500 towards an air source or ground source heat pump in England and Wales. The installer applies on your behalf and must be MCS certified.

Do you do electrical work?

Yes. Domestic electrical work, including electrical site visits and repairs, is carried out by Part P registered electricians.

Do you offer handyman services?

Yes. We help with repairs and small jobs around the home, such as shelves, doors and fixtures, at £85 per hour.

Which areas do you cover?

Walton-on-Thames, Weybridge, Cobham, Esher, Oxshott, Chertsey and Kingston upon Thames (KT9 to KT13), and South West and West London including Wimbledon, Wandsworth, Fulham, Chelsea, Knightsbridge and South Kensington.

What should I do if I smell gas?

Leave the property if you can, open doors and windows, do not use light switches or naked flames, turn off the gas at the meter if it is safe to do so, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 straight away.
